Does STAW take a percentage of sales from artists? No, STAW does not take a percentage

How can I help promote the event? Artists should personally invite their friends/ family/ co-workers to the event. There will be small flyers printed that you can hand out to people. If you have a social media page we would love you to post about the event and especially post photos on your social media page of your artwork and tag STAW!

How do I accept payment? Individual artists/studios are responsible for figuring out how to accept payment for artwork. Some recommended electronic methods include Square, Paypal and Venmo. Artists accepting cash are responsible for making sure they have change available.

Where do I hang my yellow STAW sign? All studios will receive a waterproof yellow sign to hang somewhere visible on the day of the event so that art walkers have a visual aid to help them identify each studio.

What if I run out of STAW Maps during the event? All studio s will be given some printed maps for art walkers to take if they would like a printed version. If you should run out during the event you can always direct people to the website where there is an electronic version available that they can access from their phones. It is recommended to keep one map so that you can make copies if needed ( and accessible to you).

What if it’s raining cats and dogs? This event takes place in December which can be hit or miss in terms of inclement weather. We’ve had all types of weather ( including snow!!). If you are vending outdoors, consider having a rain tent set up ( and secured in case of wind). If it is bitterly cold, a portable fire pit or propane heater can be a really nice way for walkers (and artists) to warm up. You could also consider having hot apple cider in a croc pot available. We can’t control the weather but planning ahead can help make artists and walkers more comfortable.

What is up with this punch card? So glad you asked! The punch card is a fun way to encourage walkers to visit a certain number of studios (the number varies from year to year). Walkers receive a “punch”. Your studio can choose how they want to do the punch- it can be a stamp, initials of artist, a hole punch shape, sticker, etc. Punches can be different at each studio as long as the studio itself keeps their mark consistent. Once punch cards are filled all the way out, art walkers can leave them with any studio. All the punch cards will be collected at the end of the event and entered into a drawing to win the gift basket ( items donated by participating artists).
